Resurrection Rolls...He is Risen!!

Yesterday I had decided that I wanted to make resurrection rolls with our kids. We made them this evening. It ended up being a wonderful experience, and the kids really seemed to grasp the entire story of the resurrection of Jesus through the making of these rolls.

Here is what you will need:

Can of crescent rolls

8 large marshmallows

Cinnamon

sugar

butter

And here is the directions and some photos to go along with the directions:

STEP 1: Preheat oven to whatever temp the can of rolls says (normally 375)

While the oven is preheating, we read John 19

STEP 2: unroll crescent rolls. Explain that this is like the cloth that they wrapped Jesus in
STEP3: Give marshmallow to children. Explain that this represents Jesus...all white and pure because He was without sin
STEP 4: Roll marshmallows in melted butter. This symbolizes the embalming oils

STEP 5: Roll marshmallow in Cinnamon sugar. This is like the spices used to prepare Jesus' body for burial

STEP 6: Wrap crescent roll around marshmallow(Be sure to pinch and seal all edges tightly to keep marshmallows inside). This represents how they wrapped Jesus body with the cloths.

STEP 7: Put rolls in oven (symbolizes the tomb that Jesus was placed in) and bake according to package.

STEP 8: While baking, read John 20:1-18 Step 9: Open tomb (oven) and remove rolls. Let cool slightly. Break open and discover what happened to Jesus. He is no longer there!!

THE TOMB IS EMPTY!!
